One of the great things about OpenClassrooms is its flexibility so you can learn at your own pace. Sometimes that means taking a break while things are busy at work or family obligations are a little hectic. Fortunately, pausing your work is easy, and your projects will be waiting for you when you return.
Things to Consider
While you are on a break, your mentor will be unassigned. This means that when you return you may end up with a different mentor. We try our best to keep those relationships the same, but sometimes schedules change. One strategy you can use is to communicate directly with your mentor to let them know that you’re just pausing for a month or so. Communication is great!
You also want to avoid taking too many breaks or pause for such a long time that you begin to un-learn the skills you have already mastered. Consistency and regularity are the keys to a strong learning experience. That said, sometimes it’s unavoidable. Here is how you can take a pause at OpenClassrooms:
Instructions
- Log on to your account on OpenClassrooms.com
- Click on the icon in the top right-hand corner and select "My Account"
- Click on "Premium"
- Click on the "Stop Automatic Renewal" button.
You will have access to your account until the end of the billing cycle that you have already paid for. Keep an eye on timing! You’ll need to cancel before the next charge begins. So for instance, if you are charged on the 5th of every month, you will need to cancel on the 4th or earlier.
Returning to Your Studies
Once you're ready to return, you can re-activate by following the steps below:
- Sign into your OpenClassrooms account using your original email and password.
- Click on the “Paths” tab and select your chosen Path.
- Click “Start” and follow instructions to sign up.
- Don’t worry! Because you signed in with your original email address all your former work will still be there.
Once this is done, the mentoring team pair you up with your previous mentor within 48 hours, if that person is still available, or with a new industry expert if not. Feel free to reach out to us when you return to ensure a smooth return to your learning!
